In the story... Diana first meets Queen Victoria at a ball at Stafford House, the home of Harriet Sutherland who is the Duke of Devonshire's niece, Victoria's best friend, and Mistress of the Robes. The Queen is full of sympathy for the impact the war has had on Diana's life and takes a personal interest in her. While on an official visit to Chatsworth, the Queen and Lady Sutherland pay an informal evening visit to Diana's home in the estate village of Edensor.
